Apply for the Australia Awards Scholarships for applicants from Asia, Africa and Pacific Countries. Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The main aim of these awards is to contribute to the development needs of Australia’s partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements. Awards are open to selected applicants from Asia, Africa, Pacific and Middle East countries who will have the opportunity to carry out study and research activities at one of the participating Institutions in Australia

These provide opportunities for people from participating developing countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to study for a full time undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Your study and research experience supported by Australia Awards Scholarships will help you develop the skills and knowledge need to drive change and contribute to development in your own home country. The Australia Awards Scholarships will be offered for the minimum period necessary for you to complete your chosen academic program at an Australian Institution.

Benefits


  • You will receive full coverage for tuition fees, for your chosen program at an Australian Institution.
  • Recipients will receive a return air travel–payment of a single return, economy class airfare to and from Australia, via the most direct route.
  • You will be eligible for an allowance to go towards contribution for accommodation expenses, text books, study materials.
  • A fortnightly contribution to basic living expenses paid at a rate determined by the department.
  • You will have access to an Introductory Academic Program (IAP), a compulsory program prior to the commencement of formal academic studies covering information on living and studying in Australia.
  • Recipients will be eligible for Student Health Cover (OSHC) during their stay and for the duration of the award.
  • You will receive coverage for pre-course English (PCE) fees if these are deemed necessary for you before the start of your program.

Eligibility


  • Applicants must be Nationals and Citizens of participating countries from Asia, Pacific and Middle East regions (Please see full list here)
  • You must be able to satisfy all relevant university admission requirements including English language proficiency
  • Applicants applying for Master’s Degree level study must meet the following conditions:
    1. You must hold a Bachelor Degree and have achieved above average results with at least 3 years’ relevant work experience
    2. Applicants must not hold or have held a scholarship to study outside their home country in the 24 months preceding the application
    3. You must have achieved an IELTS or TOEFL at pass rate of 6.5 for each band that is current at the time of application
    4. Applicates must not hold a Master’s Degree at the time of application.
  • For Doctorate Degree (PhD) level study, these conditions must be met.
    1. You must hold a Master’s Degree and have achieved above average results with at least 3 years’ relevant work experience
    2. Applicants must not hold or have held a scholarship to study outside their home country in the 24 months preceding the application
    3. You must have achieved an IELTS or TOEFL at pass rate of 6.5 for each band that is current at the time of application
    4. Applicants must not hold a PhD Degree at the time of application

All applications must be lodged online through the Online Australia Awards Scholarships Information System (OASIS). Applicants will need to submit several documents as support for their application

  • Copy of Certificate of Live (Birth Certificate)
  • A Certified proof of citizenship
  • Academic qualifications and work-related experience (no more than three pages)
  • Certified certificates and academic transcripts for all completed study from Form 6 including GPA, grading scale and explanatory page
  • Reference/support letters from your employers on their recommendation for the study program
  • Your most recent CV detailing professional and other relevant experience where applicable (three pages maximum)
