Apply now to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) 2020. The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) is organised as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The aim of the forum is to promote cross-cultural connections and to achieve consensus among youth leaders on the policies required to address the challenges and opportunities facing young people.
Applications are now open to apply to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) in Kigali, Rwanda.
CYF takes place from 20 to 23 June 2020. About 500 young leaders from 54 member countries will attend and build consensus on key challenges and opportunities facing young people.
Some of the challenges of interest during the forum will include:
- climate change
- gender equality
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)
Leaders of the Commonwealth countries meet every 2 years at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Alongside the main eevent, a youth forum is organised where youth form CHOGM member countries meet to discuss issues that affect them
The theme for the 2020 Commonwealth Youth Forum is ‘Taking Charge of Our Future’. The Government of Rwanda, the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth Youth Council are convening the youth forum.
This forum provides o sponsership or stipends to applicants. Therefore, successful applicants will be responsible for organising and paying for their own flights to Rwanda and organising and paying for their accommodation, meals and on-ground travel for the duration of the Commonwealth Youth Forum. Successful candidates must also hold a valid passport and obtain a visa for entry to the country.

In order to be considered for attendance for the forum, the applicant must:
- be a Commonwealth citizen between the age of 18 and 29
- have experience in youth advocacy or development; and
- represent a youth-led body, youth organisation or a special interest group (indigenous young people, young disabled people, rural youth, etc.)
- The deadline to register your interest in attending the forum is 20 March 2020.
