Apply for the European Regional Master’s Programme in Democracy and Human Rights in South East Europe (GC SEE / ERMA). This is a one year, full time and interdisciplinary programme that runs annually from November to October the next year. Its aim is the development of democracy and human rights in South East Europe. It is a joint initiative by the University of Sarajevo, Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and the University of Bologna’s Department of Political and Social Sciences.
The is co-financed by the European Union through the Global Campus of Human Rights. This is made possible by support of over 40 lecturers from over 12 partner universities. The programme awards students with 60 ECTS and a double-degree diploma of both founding universities (UNSA and UNIBO).
The program is composed of two semesters divided into 3 terms
- Term 1: Runs from November to June and takes place at the University of Sarajevo and is worth 30 ECTS
- Term 2: This covers an internship that aims to enable students acquire working experience. The internship runs from June to July at selected NGOs , think tanks and research institutes. Students receive 10 ECTS from the internship
- Term 3: This is a Mobility term at the University of Bologna and runs from September to October. The mobility term is worth 20 ECTS.

- Scholarships cover full tuition fees for the whole duration of the programme.
- You also receive coverage for living expenses while studying in Sarajevo and also during your mobility in Bologna.
- Travel expenses are also covered by the programme
- Students will get a chance to study in a highly international and multicultural environment
- You will acquire working and research experience throughout the 6-week internship period in countries of the SEE
- The mobility term at the University of Bologna in Italy is a great change to build new networks and see the world.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following application conditions.
- The programme admits around 36 candidates each year within 3 categories.
- Target group I (25 places): Citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and citizens of Kosovo (holders of passports of countries recognized by BiH)
- Target group II (5 places): Citizens of the European Union countries, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Russian Federation
- Target group III (6 places): Citizens of other countries (Self funded)
- You must posses a Bachelors degree in social sciences and Humanities from a recognized university.
- Applicants with English as their mother tongue and those who had previous university education in English language will provide competency through their transcripts or certificates issued by the respective universities only.
- Others have to provide evidence of their English language proficiency.
